Why do we approach assembly differently than most manufacturers?

Up to 75% of a window's efficiency depends on proper installation. That's why we don't consider installation an add-on, but rather the most crucial part of the entire solution.

At MINTAL, we don't outsource installation. We have our own certified installation team, which is part of our company and works according to uniform procedures from design to handover.

Proper assembly is crucial

1. Windows are installed by a team that knows them in detail

Installation is carried out by people who know exactly how your windows were designed and manufactured. Everything connects seamlessly, with no improvisation on site.

2. One company, one responsibility

Situations where the manufacturer and assembler shift responsibility to each other do not arise. MINTAL is always responsible for the outcome.

3. Installation is planned as early as the design stage

Details of installation, connection to the facade, window sills, shading or large-format elements are addressed in advance, not during installation.

4. Verified procedures and correct materials

We use installation procedures and materials that ensure proper sealing, stability, and long-term functionality of the windows.

5. Less stress during implementation

Installation is clear and straightforward with no unnecessary interventions in the construction. You always know what stage you are in.

6. A result that lasts for years

Correct installation means better sealing, comfortable operation, fewer service interventions, and long-term window reliability.

As a result of knowledge in construction in the field of connection joints (window connection to the opening), we have completely abandoned the outdated, absolutely incorrect, and normatively unacceptable installation procedure – mechanical anchoring (staples, screws) and foaming with insulating PUR foam.

What is the actual problem? When a window is installed in an opening in this way, moisture (vapor) enters the PUR foam from the interior, and water penetrates from the exterior due to circumferential cracks at the window frame-masonry interface. It has been proven that an increase in PUR foam moisture by 5% leads to a reduction in its insulating capacity by approximately 50%, thus creating a thermal bridge and subsequent defects – condensation on the inner side of the reveals and mold.

Up to 75% of a window's efficiency depends on correct installation

Correct window installation is crucial for maximum efficiency and long lifespan of your windows. With us, you are guaranteed a quality product and professional installation. Leave nothing to chance and choose certainty with MINTAL.

Professional Consultation

The basis of cooperation with our company is thorough technical and expert consultation. The starting point for a well-prepared design of window constructions and installation details is the provision of construction documentation, project documentation, floor plans and sections by the client, and knowledge of basic legislative regulations, norms, and guidelines by the sales representative.

The prescribed and legislatively approved procedure for the design and implementation of window and door installation is set out in STN 73 3134: 2014.

Due to the enormous range of materials offered and used in the connection joint, STN 73 3133 has been in force since 2012, defining the basic requirements for the properties of materials used in the connection joint of the window with the surrounding structure. Materials conforming to this standard meet the basic requirements for airtightness, watertightness, elasticity, thermal insulation, durability, UV resistance, and others.

Requirements for the thermotechnical properties of building structures and buildings are constantly tightening; the current starting point is defined by the revision of the thermotechnical standard STN 73 0540-2 + Z1 + Z2: 2019, effective from July 1, 2019.

1. Basic window installation diagram

  • Exterior plane - formed by the so-called vapor-permeable and waterproof tape
  • Middle plane - formed by the insulation layer
  • Interior plane - sealing (protection) of thermal insulation with the so-called vapor-impermeable and waterproof film

According to the principle "tighter inside than outside", the joint is perfectly dried, thus achieving permanently perfect insulation capacity without subsequent defects and inconveniences.

2. Window installation using a compressible polyurethane tape for the entire joint gap

  • Compression tape for the entire plane of the connection joint

New generation materials allow the connection joint to be sealed with just one product, while still maintaining the "tighter inside than outside" principle. This property is achieved by modifying the individual layers of the compression tape. A connection joint constructed in this way is then watertight, airtight, provides excellent thermal insulation and is permanently UV stable.

3. Window installation flush with the thermal insulation layer

  • Fixing point - Transfers the weight and load of the window out of the plane of the supporting structure
  • Interior plane - vapour-proof and waterproof connection joint
  • Central plane - insulation layer, has identical or similar properties to the thermal insulation of the wall
  • Exterior plane - tightness against driving rain, vapour permeability, ventilation of the connection joint

Recessed window installation means moving the window into the plane of the building's thermal insulation. Such a solution offers undisputed advantages in terms of eliminating thermal bridges, shifting the dew point isotherm, and saving energy for heating and cooling. However, recessed installation is also more demanding in terms of planning, implementation time, and finances, and should therefore be carefully calculated and subsequently accounted for in the implementation project. Emphasis is placed on resolving structural materials, the strength of the supporting structure, and connecting products to the floor. This installation system is used more extensively in ultra-low-energy buildings, nearly zero-energy buildings, or passive buildings.

4. Assembly of oversized components

In the case of atypical oversized infills or elements in difficult-to-access areas, we are prepared for even the most demanding requirements. With the use of a special UNIC mini-crane, with its handling capability in openings of only 600 mm width for use in confined spaces outdoors, as well as indoors, implementation will not be a problem.
